New CMMI® Products and Services

New products and services from the SEI include the new certification for SCAMPISM Lead Appraisers and the CMMI-ACQ version 1.2, and the CMMI constellation for services (CMMI-SVC) which was released in March 2009.

In recognition of the need to address service-oriented organizations the SEI developed a version of the CMMI focusing on services; that version was released in March 2009. MDM is authorized to both train and appraise using the CMMI-SVC constellation. Click here for more information on the CMMI-SVC constellation.

The SEI will now accept and recognize only SCAMPI V1.2 Class A appraisals that use a CMMI V1.2 model. SCAMPI Class B and C appraisals must also be conducted using a CMMI V1.2 model. MDM provides the CMMI® V1.2 introductory class, along with training on SCAMPI V 1.2. Also, SEI is requiring all Lead Appraisers to pass a test and become certified.

If you’ve already had the Introduction to CMMI® V1.1, you can be upgraded to version 1.2 by taking the SEI upgrade training. Course registration for “CMMI® Version 1.2 Upgrade Training” is available at the SEI Web site: http://www.sei.cmu.edu/products/courses/p57.html

Two significant policies regarding SCAMPISM are:

The CMMI for Acquisition, Version 1.2 is a CMMI model designed for use in managing the supply chain by those who acquire, procure, or otherwise select and purchase products and services for business purposes. This model is a continuation of work to define best practices for organizations that acquire products and services or outsource development and support, which was begun in a partnership between General Motors and the SEI.
